Rustenburg is in the heart of the savannah bushveld. The city is in the North West Province, nestled at the foothills of the breathtaking Magaliesburg Mountains. The highest point in this mountain range is 1,852m above sea level and has been a tactical region for many battles for land during the early 1800s.

Royal Bafokeng Stadium:

The Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace is one of the stadiums for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The stadium is named after the Bafokeng people who live in the area.
In 1999, the Bafokeng won a legal battle, which entitled them to 20% on the platinum which is mined on their historical land. Hence, they have shares in platinum mining in the area. Upon completion, the stadium will seat 42,000.

Accommodation:

Accommodation is currently available for 15 people in luxury double bedrooms. We are soon putting up another 20 bedrooms for our guests. All the basics are available (DSTV, air conditioner, bar fridge, heaters, TV, Wi-Fi hotspot for internet, en-suite bathrooms, and lounge, a dining room for 36 guests, 2 bars and nice patios).

Facilities:

Our swimming pool is close to the outside bar and braai area making a party very convenient and private from the rooms. Our gardens are all fully irrigated. The natural canopy provides shade for relaxing the garden. Teas and coffee can be served.

Be it a bush barbecue or a barbecue in the boma, Akwaaba lodge does it all. Evening braais by the pool can be so much fun. Sunset is a pleasure to watch from our patio and the manicured gardens. Seeing as Sun City and the Pilanesberg Game Park are nearby, we offer our guests the opportunity to go on game drives and transport them to Sun City as the need arises.

Activities

We offer team building activities from hot air ballooning to paintball and tracking games. We have 72 hectares of flat farm land available for all these events. Hiking trails, bird watching and other bush related fun can be arranged. Big screen sports viewing are available in our conference and boardrooms.

ACCOMMODATION:

Each of the 9 rooms is spacious and very well decorated with great artwork, white percale linen and leather headboards. All of the rooms are en-suite and 7 rooms have showers as well as baths looking onto a private courtyard. Some of the rooms have a private patio which overlooks the swimming pool surrounded by a wooden deck. All the rooms have air conditioners as well as wireless internet access.

Each room has coffee and tea facilities. There is also a TV in each room with DSTV (selected channels). For businessmen each room has a built-in table to finish your work as well as wireless internet access in each room. The rooms are non smoking but you are welcome to smoke outside at the pool area.

SERVICEs & FACILITIES:

Afri-chic offers secure parking behind electronic gates. Afri-chic has a lounge where you can enjoy the fireplace during winter months, read or play games. The owner is an artist and her paintings are on display. A curio corner at the guest house has handmade jewellery as well as various body scrubs. You can treat yourself with a wonderful scrub. A health spa and hair salon are close by for all your needs.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES:

Afri-chic is a 40 min drive from the Cradle of Humankind as well as Sun City where elephant riding, a crocodile farm and the Gary Player golf course are great attractions. The Pilanesberg Game Reserve next to Sun City has great opportunities to see Africa’s “Big 5”. Afri-chic is also Close to the Kwagsane Nature Reserve with its fine selection of hiking trails.

Rustenburg has no shortage of arts and craft galleries, farm stalls and eating venues. Hartbeespoort Dam with all its cultural villages is 30 minutes drive from Rustenburg. The de Wildt Cheetah and Elephant Sanctuary are well worth visiting. The German settlement Kroondal is 10km away. The rugged area around the town is excellent for mountain biking. The surrounding nature reserves make for excellent bird-watching.
